Our Planet Week illustration movement was founded by digital artist & illustrator Asia Orlando (@asiaorlando_) in 2020, after a series of devastating events that took place during that year, among them, the fire in the Amazon’s and Australia’s bushfires. That’s how the idea of this illustration movement was born. The concept of the illustration movement is to use what we do best to create environmental awareness and start a movement that resonates each year. And maybe reach more and more people to drive change. 2022 will be the third year in which Our Planet Week illustration movement will take place. In the past two editions more than 20.000 illustrations and art creations where shared usign the event hashtags on socials #ourplanetweek and #letsdrawthechange.
Art is a powerful medium and with the correct message, we can help not only to spread love but also to gather a community of like-minded artists & creatives with a common goal, have a conversation about our current climate situation, and our home planet. By doing just a little, we can achieve so much, and together gathering our pencils, brushes, digital tablets, or anything that enable us to create, we can inspire change.
Challenge 3rd Edition in 2022
The challenge will take place in the week starting on Friday, April 22nd, 2022. Everyone is invited to participate, and it’s super easy. You don’t need to submit your art anywhere, just post on your Instagram or Twitter account, tag @ourplanetweek, and use our official hashtags #ourplanetweek and #letsdrawthechange. Remember each time you use #onetreeplanted during the challenge when posting your art on Instagram, one 🌳 will be planted.
We all can do our part, by creating awareness and collaborating a bit to take care of our only home, our Planet. The challenge was created to inspire change & awareness through art, motivate others to create, and take better care of our Mother Earth.
–DRAW THE CHANGE
Our art is our voice. A way to express ourselves through creation. Today with so much technology at our fingertips that empower us to communicate, connect and participate collectively, we unite our voices, into one worldwide art challenge.
–BE THE CHANGE
Every change is important, it does not matter if it’s little or big. We can inspire people to be more conscious about the environment with our art. But we can inspire ourselves to lead by example, for others and future generations.
–SHARE THE CHANGE
Anyone can join the art movement, it’s so easy. Create artwork with a message, post it on your socials, use our hashtag. tag and follow us.
To make an even bigger impact, we have partnered up with One Tree Planted, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. Remeber to use use the hashtag #onetreeplanted always along side your work & they will plant a tree for every post hashtagged it during the illustration challenge dates.
Their projects span the globe and are done in partnership with local communities and knowledgeable experts to create an impact for nature, people, and wildlife. Reforestation helps to rebuild forests after fires and floods, provide jobs for social impact, and restore biodiversity. Many projects have overlapping objectives, creating a combination of benefits that contribute to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Learn more about them at onetreeplanted.org
